Good news for Camp Farm House over in Papcastle! Planning has been submitted to update one of their sitting room fireplaces, making it a bit more efficient and modern. It's great to see these historic homes being carefully looked after in our beautiful Cockermouth area.
Listed Building Consent to replace an open solid fuel fire in one sitting room with an inset gas fire. The work involves the removal of the existing fire insert and replacing it with a high efficiency coal effect gas fire. It will also entail the replacement of a terracotta T chimney pot with a terracotta gas cowl. The existing marble mantle and hearth will remain in place. The existing fireplace, which is a reproduction and primarily decorative limits the amount of fuel that can be burned, it is also extremely inefficient and cannot adequately heat the room.
